CREST OF COURAGE
Canon Holders: Taichi Yagami
Canon History: The Crest is normally used to digivolve Greymon to MetalGreymon and warp-digivolve Agumon into WarGreymon. When Taichi was filled with bravado it went Black and Greymon Digivolved into SkullGreymon. The emblem is on the Digi-Egg of Courage, used to Armor digivolve Veemon into Flamedramon.

Holders of the Crest of Courage:
True courage is not about not feeling fear, or claiming to not feel fear. True courage is not about jumping straight into danger without thinking of the consequences. Thus, the Crest of Courage never chooses those foolhardy enough to ignore fear as an important part of life.

Rather, this Crest prefers those who know fear and acknowledge its presence, yet do not allow it to take over their minds or sense of reason. This crest symbolizes inner strength in the face of hardship or pressure, whether it be physical or emotional-- as long as the Chosen understand they are afraid and sets that fear aside for their responsibilities.

However, Chosen with this crest must never let themselves become careless just because they carry Courage. The wrong applications of courage may make them not only dangers to themselves but to those close to them as well.

Natural leaders are the most likely to be picked by the Crest of Courage, because one of the most important qualities of a leader is courage and the ability to stay strong when others aren't. Of course, those who aren't leaders can also be chosen by this crest, as long as they can do the same

CREST OF DESIRE
Canon History: The Crest of Desire is first seen as the Armor Digiegg of Desire. In Tag Tamers Ryou had to find all the pieces of this Armor Digiegg to reveal Milliniummon. He is the only one it works for.

Holders of the Crest of Desire:
The Crest of Desire is one of the more indifferent crests to if a person is labeled good or evil. Those who find themselves crested with Desire are those who want something or are even desirable. They are not necessarily greedy or even vain, but there could be those one or two people who are.

Sometimes what they desire most is family, time, acceptance, or even the ability to live. Those with the Crest of Desire have often lost something that impacts them greatly. This loss may be their driving force or something they try to conceal but ultimately fail to do so.

There are others who desire money, greed, power, beauty, or even intimacy. For some of these they may also have a feeling of loss, but for most it may be that they have never had it. They may be envious of others and strive to be able to be on the same level. Then again they may also truly be the sort of people whose only life ambition is to be the best in that certain area.

Whatever the case may be, the Crest of Desire is not picky. Chosen who are shy, loners, ambitious, or even kind may easily end up with this crest-- they each just seek something that they cannot obtain.

CREST OF FATE
Canon Holders: None
Canon History: Like the Crest of Miracles, it has never actually been seen, but it is said to exist. Its emblem appears on the Digi-Egg of Fate.

Holders of the Crest of Fate:
The Crest of Fate at first seems cut and dry. It goes to those that understand and accept their ultimate fate, but work within it. This does not mean they are willing to die with out a fight...or that it means death in general. Fate is the end result. But the end result could be something silly, like making a signature bread for Japan.

It is about working within your means and while the while accepting that the end is coming. It is about not being afraid of the end result but welcoming it with open arms and tea. However that doesn't mean you go straight for it. Most chosen with this crest live fuller lives than others, because they understand they are going to end up with something, but that doesn't mean they live for just that. On a darker side, this crest also means knowing and fully accepting the consequences of your actions whether they are extreme and justified, or not.

Anyone can be a chosen for the crest. It does go to nihilistic people but usually to those that seem the most happy.

CREST OF FRIENDSHIP
Canon Holders: Yamato Ishida
Canon History: The Crest is normally used to digivolve Garurumon into WereGarurumon or Warp-digivolve Gabumon into MetalGarurumon. It was also used by Yamato to heal WarGreymon and Taichi. It appears on the Digi-Egg of Friendship which is used to Digivolve Veemon into Raidramon.

Holders of the Crest of Friendship:
The Crest of Friendship is a bit of an odd crest. It’s more indifferent to who it picks. People crested with Friendship are those that work well with others, despite the mask of indifference they might put on.

They may be gruff and harsh, but they do care about the people they are close too in their own ways. Sometimes they can’t stand to be around others, but will show up at a moment’s notice to help the, whistling a signature tune to let others they are here. Sometimes they are friendship freaks who draw power and courage from those that they know. They might not be the leading star, but they tend to be happy knowing they are a part of something important.

Among its oddity, the Crest of Friendship is not only draw to extroverts, but to those that need or needed it the most at one point. In fact, it seems to side more with loners then those that are always in a large circle of friends.

CREST OF HOPE
Canon Holders: Takeru Takaishi
Canon History: The Crest is normally used to digivolve Angemon into MagnaAngemon. It produced the arrow Angemon used to help warp-digivolve Gabumon to MetalGarurumon. It appears on the Digi-Egg of Hope which is used to Digivolve Patamon into Pegasusmon.

Holders of the Crest of Hope:
Hope as a crest is intresting. It’s there for those that need it in any form it can possible take. Phsyical, conceptional, a person, or a work of art. It is the promise of something in the future. Not just that it will be better, but that there might be something there, that wasn’t before.

To put it simply, those that have hope are an inspiration. Whether it’s by action, deed, words, or just plain old gumption. Those that have hope are prone to be hit hardest when things fail. But on the flipside they are those that get back up the quickest in a way. They will find a way to turnabout the case and bring light to the despair.

In a sense, the Crests of Hope and Fate are polar opposite. Hope in the end, is the force that lets you pierce the heavens and defy the preconceived nature of Fate. Those whose actions embody hope are trailblazers, ever stepping forward into new frontiers.

Those that have Hope as a crest tend to be a cornerstone or the ringer of the group in some capacity. It can be those that struggle to gain something or those that see the bright side in everything. Sometimes the crest will appear on those that just need it, in order to survive. It’s not picky and it does not want to be. However Hope is a powerful force on par of that of Miracles, Light, and Fate, no matter what form it takes.

CREST OF KINDESS
Canon History: The Crest of Kindness has a truly strange history. Unlike the other Crests owned by one of the first sets of Chosen, it is never used to digivolve Ken's partner, Wormmon. It was somehow corrupted into an energy source for the Digimon Emperor's floating base, and it is somehow used as the base for the Digi-Egg of Miracles. Most of the how of this is shrouded in mystery. It is used to try and shut down the Digimon Emperor's base, and it is only found in its non-corrupted form after Kimeramon, the Digimon Emperor's monster, is destroyed.

It oddly shows sentience in its appearances. It speaks to Daisuke, saying it believes in Ken and wants Daisuke to as well, and it speaks once more following the defeat of the Digimon Emperor, saying it would like to return to where it belonged, and then going to Ken. Again, only Daisuke can hear it.

Quite likely, this is a case of the Crest being corrupted, as this does not happen with any other Crest or in any other instance.

Holders of the Crest of Kindness:
At first glance, one might think that Light and Kindness are one and the same. In a sense, they are; Light and Kindness represent the good in people and there is no deviation from this fact. Only those who are good of heart receive the Kindness crest, much like that of those who receive the crest of Light.

However, while Light is seen as more of a guiding force, Kindness is an act or state of being. It is Light personified, seen through the actions of a charitable person. Chosen who receive the Crest of Kindness will actively help those in need without a second thought, and are willing to put others before themselves.

This does pose a problem, not from those on the receiving end, but for those who give. It is possible for someone to put too much effort into their actions and often do not see the strain they put on themselves in their wanting to aid others. They are prone to pushing themselves to their physical and emotional limits, or even passed them.

The Crest of Kindness is drawn to those who actively seek to better the world around them. It does not necessarily have to be an action as huge as saving the world as a whole, but can be something as small as helping an elderly person across the street, or picking up an item dropped by a mother trying to wrangle a screaming child, and do not seek a reward for their behavior.

CREST OF KNOWLEDGE
Canon Holders: Koushirou Izumi
Canon History: It is normally used to digivolve Kabuterimon to MegaKabuterimon. Its emblem appears on the Digi-Egg of Knowledge, which digivolves Armadillomon to Digmon.

Holders of the Crest of Knowledge:
Learning new things may not be easy, but the Crest of Knowledge certainly rewards those who value the abilities of the mind. Knowledge is quantified amount of information, facts and even skills a person can learn and retain through education and experience, which would sometimes give it the illusion of intelligence.

However, having a lot of knowledge doesn't mean the person is also intelligent. While they can meet, knowledge and intelligence don't necessarily have to go hand-in-hand all the time, knowledge is simply part of intelligence. With this, knowledge is more about the skills and information gained, and the drive to learn.

Those Chosen by the Crest of Knowledge do not necessarily have to be at genius level, but rather booksmart, and if they're not, then willing to go the extra mile to learn. However, they should never forget what's important to them simply because they want more.

People with the Crest of Knowledge should always seek to be better and use what they have not only to benefit themselves but others as well.

CREST OF LIGHT
Canon Holders: Hikari Yagami
Canon History: The Crest is normally used to digivolve Gatomon into Angewomon, however it has a number of other uses. It produced an arrow of light to help warp-digivolve Agumon to WarGreymon, and it also served as a channel for the Digital World's disembodied spirit to possess Hikari. Its emblem is on the Digi-Egg of Light, which is used to digivolve Gatomon to Nefertimon.

Holders of the Crest of Light:
The Crest of Light goes to those that are exceptionally good. Both in deed and action. Unlike many of the other crests this one is cut and dry. It is everything good and right in the world.

In times of darkness, like Miracles, it can be a guiding light in dark times. Those that have this crest normally do not like to see people upset and confused. They will provide hope and light for them whether its by action or words.

However on the flip-side you can take things too far. When Light and good intention can become corrupted, when you compromise everything else for the sake of them. In essence it’s best to practice restraint with this crest and to allow people to be who they are, gently guiding them on the correct path.

As mentioned above this crest only goes to good people. Though the goodness in them might sometimes be hidden under a veil of angst and self-interest. However just because its simple, does not mean its not a force to be reckoned with.

CREST OF LOVE
Canon Holders: Sora Takenouchi
Canon History: The Crest is normally used to digivolve Birdramon to Garudamon. The emblem is on the Digi-Egg of Love, used to Armor digivolve Hawkmon into Halsemon.

Holders of the Crest of Love:
There are many different kinds of love-- familial, romantic, friendly and even divine. However, the Crest of Love doesn't require its Chosen to be in a relationship. Instead, this Crest is drawn to those who know love and place value in it.

Those picked by this crest know what true love is, whether it's friendly, familial or romantic, recognizes how important love is in a person's life and even vows to protect it because of this. However, they should be well aware not to interfere, because love is not something to be forced upon others. Rather, it's something that needs to be discovered.

Knowing love doesn't have to be a huge philosophical venture for Chosen to go on-- though it can certainly help to know what it is and what it can be. Chosen should also be aware of the fine line between love and obsession and should take care not to confuse the two.

In the end, the Crest of Love isn't picky about its Chosen. People from all sorts of backgrounds with all sorts of personalities can have this crest, as long as they understand love and the beauty of it.

CREST OF MIRACLES
Canon Holders: Daisuke Motomiya, by technicality.
Canon History: The Crest of Miracles hasn't actually been seen before. It presumably, in myth, exists. There's a Digi-Egg of Miracles, which has its emblem, and which Daisuke could make work. In fact, he's the only one who has made it work, which is why he is technically its holder. Beyond this, the crest has never been seen. The Digi-Egg is used to armor digivolve Veemon to Magnamon.

Holders of the Crest of Miracles: Out of all the crests, Miracles is the most rare. Because otherwise...it wouldn't be a miracle. In its basest form, that’s what the Crest exactly is. It’s a miraculous occurrence borne out of sheer stubborn determination no matter what. Death is but a slap on the wrist to these individuals. Which is fitting since these people tend to get put in deadly situations quite often.

While Miracles may seem like a mix of courage and tenacity, it’s a bit more then that. They exceed it and any other crests they may seem to fit. In general these are people that will come back from the brink of death to punch their sibling in the face, to get them to have their acts together. They can come up with the solution at the eleventh hour. They like to pull super powers out of their hindquarters. There is very few things they can’t do when the pressure is on them.

Miracles only shows it power in a pinch, and when it does its akin to using a nuke a common housefly. And so those that herald Miracles Mark embody that in both personality and deeds. Often times they can’t bring out their full potential till the last moment.

CREST OF PURITY
Canon Holders: Mimi Tachikawa
Canon History: It is normally used to digivolve Togemon to Lilymon. It awakens Mimi from Myotismon's sleep spell. Its emblem is on the Digi-Egg of Purity, which digivolves Hawkmon to Shurimon.

Holders of the Crest of Purity:
When one thinks of purity, the sweet, innocent who can do no wrong usually comes to mind -- but that's a vast exaggeration of what purity really is. Purity is that which is not corrupted or compromised, and that's exactly what the Crest of Purity looks for in a person.

This is for those Chosen who are themselves in every way. These are the ones who are true to their own identity, and not only recognizing this but understanding it as well. Where the Crest of Sincerity generally regards expression, the Crest of Purity is about looking inward.

Purity does not mean being devoid of faults; on the contrary, those who obtain the Crest of Purity often are aware of their faults or strive to understand them and become a better person, all the while not changing who they are at their core.

The incredibly introspective can receive this crest, but it can go to the outspoken as well. It also doesn't have to go to those goodhearted; the mean-spirited can be just as pure to their own ideals. The Crest of Purity will simply take one who is uncompromising to who they really are.

CREST OF RELIABILITY
Canon Holders: None
Canon History: None by technicality.

Holders of the Crest of Reliability:
The Crest of Reliability prefers those that are good of heart. Those that are crested with Reliablity tend to shoulder more than they should, but they get the job done. It may not always be in a timely fashion but it does get done.

These people tend to be more paternal/maternal then others or work in areas where they are serving others, whether it’s for their country, a hospital, or even a government office. They do not always enjoy being the go-to guy but they might know how much people trust them. Knowing someone with this trait is to know someone that will always have your back.

As stated, this crest prefers good people, but loyalty the most. You may see the right-hand man for a villain crested as this.

CREST OF SINCERITY
Canon Holders: Jyou Kido
Canon History: It is normally used to digivolve Ikkakumon to Zudomon. It also created a light strong enough to cut threw Myotismon's fog. Its emblem appears on the Digi-Egg of Sincerity, which digivolves Armadillomon to Submarimon.

Holders of the Crest of Sincerity:
Sincerity is a valued trait, especially since it deals with a person not only being truthful to others but to themselves as well. The Crest of Sincerity treasures those who can recognize their own thoughts, words and actions and understand the value of being truthful in everything they do, even if some would not like it.

Sincerity is all about thoughts, words and actions that are genuine, almost immediate and impulsive. Having a modicum of tact is good, but sometimes people just need the bluntness that can come from true sincerity, and sincere Chosen have almost no problem doing so when they feel it is needed.

Meanwhile, actions considered sincere are considered from the heart-- no ulterior motives, no needs to have something owed to them, and certainly no need to be noticed or appreciated. True sincerity is even more valued than actions done with the thought of receiving a reward.

The Crest of Sincerity is drawn to those who can speak truthfully and freely. These Chosen have no masks, no 'public' or 'private' personae, and most importantly, love themselves for who they are and do not seek to change themselves despite outside pressure.

CREST OF TENACITY
Canon History: The Crest of Tenacity appears in Digimon Adventure 02: D-1 Tamers, on the Digiegg of Tenacity. It is used by Ken and Ryou and to boost the powers of Digimon.

Holders of the Crest of Tenacity:
The Crest of Tenacity is one of the more indifferent crests to if a person is labeled good or evil. Those that are crested with Tenacity are those that struggle to complete a goal, ideal, or task set on them. They might lose themselves on the way but in the end they are persistent, sometimes to the point of alienating and losing many things along the way.

It could be a simple goal of saving up a bit of money or an extravagant one, such as ruling on high. They are not bad people, but they induce tunnel vision on what they are trying to do. There are those that know what they are trying to do is impossible, but still continue to do it because they have an innate drive to succeed. In a way they like to kick logic and reason to the curb and just keep on keeping on.

The Crest of Tenacity is fickle to who it picks. Caring, loving, dismissive, hateful, introverted, or extroverted people can easily be chosen for this crest. In the end it’s all about the will and drive to succeed at any tasks given to them.
